The Reds have been linked with a record-breaking transfer move for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, with reports suggesting that the Premier League giants may have to pay a transfer fee of 122 millon pounds to acquire the services of the talented youngster.

The 24-year-old is nearing the end of his contract with the Blues, and talks about a new deal at Stamford Bridge appear to have stalled so far. As a result, it has been widely assumed that Mount will leave this summer. He also seems to have no shortage of high-profile suitors, with Manchester United, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City as potential destinations alongside Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Apparently, Mount has rejected Chelsea’s offer of a salary of about 180,000 pounds per week in favour of one of about 250,000. The Blues don’t appear willing to up their offer for him, and Mount will most likely leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the current season.

📊 Mason Mount's rankings among Chelsea players in the Premier League during Thomas Tuchel's time in charge:

    🏹 Shots – 85 🥇
    ⚽ Goals – 11 🥇
    🦶 Touches in the opposition box – 167 🥇
    🅰️ Assists – 10 🥇
    🔐 Key passes – 66 🥇
    💪 Tackles – 58 🥉

If Liverpool is successful in acquiring the services of the 23-year-old midfielder in the summer of 2023 and is willing to pay a transfer fee of 122 million to do so, and if the deal is approved, it would break the previous Red’s record for a transfer fee paid, which is currently 85 million for Darwin Nunez.

Liverpool’s interest in Mount is a sign of their ambition to remain at the top of English and European football. While a transfer fee of 122m is certainly a hefty sum, Mount’s potential and ability make him an attractive prospect for any top-tier team.

If the Premier League giants were to secure his services, they would be getting a player who could significantly strengthen their midfield and provide them with the creativity and attacking prowess they need to compete at the highest level. However, as with any big-money transfer, there are risks involved, and it remains to be seen whether the potential rewards of signing Mount outweigh the risks.
