Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez was one of the breakout stars of the FIFA World Cup 2022 and he not only won the World Cup with La Albiceleste but was also recognised as the Young Player of the Tournament. Fernandez has quickly become one of the most sought-after midfield talents in world football on the back of his performances, and sources suggest that only an insane bid will force Benfica to sell him.

The 21-year-old’s stocks have risen aplenty on the back of his performances at the FIFA World Cup. He was already on the radar of some of Europe’s finest clubs thanks to his wonderful start to the season with SL Benfica but Fernandez’s valuation has increased astronomically since then. Any club that wishes to sign him from here on will have to pay a premium price for him.

Only three players made 20+ tackles at the 2022 World Cup:

Liverpool are one of those clubs that have been linked with the Argentine midfielder for a long time. According to Argentinian media outlet La Capital, the Reds have accelerated their plans and want to tie him down to a pre-agreement so that his arrival is ensured for next summer amidst heated competition.

The report also adds that Liverpool are insistent on moving quickly about this as they are expected to face competition from Manchester City, Manchester United and several French outlets have also reported that Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal and Inter Milan are also interested in his signature.

However, the Eagles are aware of the talent that they have on their hands and they are not ready to part ways with him easily. It will take an insane deal to sell Fernandez and Benfica have even referred to the player’s release clause of 120 million euro on several occasions before.

“Benfica are not open to letting Fernandez go in January – they want something crazy. Also, he has a release clause of 120 million.

“They want Enzo Fernandez and Goncalo Ramos to be part of the squad for the second half of the season in the Champions League after winning the group,”

    said transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
