Pakistan’s leg-spinning all-rounder Shadab Khan will miss the rest of the South Africa tour and will remain absent from the Zimbabwe tour as well. He sustained a toe injury in the second ODI against South Africa in Johannesburg and he may need four weeks to recover.

Shadab Khan has been ruled out of the remainder of Pakistan’s tour of South Africa and he will not travel to Zimbabwe either as he suffered a toe injury in the second ODI against South Africa in Johannesburg. The leg-spinning all-rounder sustained the injury while batting. He was hit on the boot a 151 kmph yorker from Anrich Nortje. It happened in the 19th over and he got treatment an over later.

After he was dismissed, Shadab was taken for scans and it revealed that the all-rounder had an ‘intra articular communicated fracture’ on his left toe. Thus, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) stated that Shadab was taken for X-rays after the match and he will need four weeks of rehabilitation.

X-rays conducted following the match revealed an intra articular communicated fracture though there is neither any displacement nor angulation. The injury will be treated conservatively and Shadab will undergo a four-week rehab,

a release from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) stated.

Shadab fared decently in the first ODI where he returned with figures of 0/45 in eight overs and contributed 33 runs with the bat. In the second game, he conceded 64 runs from nine overs and couldn’t pick any wickets. Moreover, he failed to get going with the bat as well and scored just 13.

These are the only two games that Shadab has played in 2021. Earlier this year, he sustained a thigh injury which kept him out of the Test series in New Zealand and the entire Test and T20I series against South Africa at home. The leg-spinning all-rounder was a part of the Pakistan squad in all three formats on this Pakistan’s tour of South Africa and Zimbabwe.

The third and deciding ODI between South Africa and Pakistan will be played on the 7th of April which will be followed by four T20Is. After this, Pakistan fly to Zimbabwe for three T20Is and two Test matches.
