Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly on top of the list to replace former Brazil boss Tite, who recently resigned after his side were eliminated from the 2022 World Cup in the quarterfinals

The Selecao, billed as the favourites to win the World Cup, crashed out in the quarterfinals, losing on penalties to 2018 finalists Croatia. Tite, who had been head coach for six and a half years, resigned shortly after the game.

The Brazilian football federation intends to contact Guardiola in order to learn more about his future plans. CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues, who is in charge of finding a replacement for Tite, is said to be curious about the Spanish tactician’s future plans.

Guardiola, who has been the manager of Manchester City since July 2016, recently agreed to a three-year contract extension through 2025. Many expect him to remain at the Etihad Stadium until then, but the CBF is allegedly unconcerned about the extension.

They are still interested in bringing in the City manager, who is widely considered as one of the best strategists of all time. According to the report, Brazil, which has mostly been coached by Brazilians, may choose a new path following their FIFA World Cup fiasco. The CBF is said to be willing to wait until 2023 for a coach who they believe will be the right person to lead them ahead.

Since taking over as Barcelona manager in 2008, Guardiola has managed 782 matches for the Catalans, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, with an elite winning percentage of 74%. The Spaniard has four Premier League titles, three La Liga titles, three Bundesliga titles, and two UEFA Champions League titles to his name. These represent only a small section of his trophy collection, which has 32 team awards during his nearly 15-year career.

Spanish coach Luis Enrique did resign after his side crashed out of the World Cup, however the Spaniards have appointed Luis de La Fuente as his successor. Roberto Martinez left his post as Belgium’s head coach following the team’s early exit from the tournament as well.
