Thomas Tuchel led Chelsea to the third UEFA Champions League’s final in the club’s history. In doing so, both the head coach and the club set new and impressive records.

Goals from Timo Werner and Mason Mount confirmed Chelsea’s place in the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League Final. The Blues beat Real Madrid 3-1 on aggregate in the semis, thus setting up an all-English clash with Manchester City for the coveted trophy. Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel and his team also hit some memorable milestones following the win.

Tuchel became the first manager in history to lead two different teams to successive Champions League finals. The German head coach presided over Paris Saint Germain’s run to the final last season, which they ultimately lost to Bayern Munich. However, the 47-year-old has been given a chance to make amends personally after helping Chelsea secure their place in the trophy clash.

When told that he must be doing things the right way to achieve such a way, Tuchel joked that the answer must vary.

“Or not because it’s not the same club! It depends who you ask,”

“I’m very happy that we’ve achieved this. I’m very grateful to have the opportunity to live my life in football and this passion as a profession.

“So grateful to do it on this level and to get to another final, I’m very grateful for that.”

    he told BT Sport.

Meanwhile, Tuchel wasn’t the only one setting records. His current employers made history themselves, as they became the first club to have both Men’s and Women’s teams play in the Champions League final in the same year. Chelsea FC Women progressed to the trophy clash last week after beating Bayern Munich 5-3 on aggregate. They will play Barcelona for the European crown on May 16.

Amazingly, Emma Hayes’ side could finish the season with five trophies. Apart from qualifying for the UCL final, the Blues are also first in the WSL with one match to play. They have already won the League Cup and the FA Community Shield and are in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
