Hazard, De Bruyne and Vertonghen involved in altercation after loss to Morocco – reports

On November 27, Morocco have scored twice in the second half to hand the Red Devils a crushing defeat in Group F. As a result, Roberto Martinez’s side sit third in the table and face the risk of early elimination.

If the reports are to be believed, Belgium superstars Eden Hazard, Jan Vertonghen, and Kevin De Bruyne were reportedly involved in a major brawl after the game at the Al Thumama Stadium in Doha. They reportedly got into a heated argument, which Romelu Lukaku had to break up.

After the game, midfielder De Bruyne stated that the national team’s players are too old to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

“No chance, we’re too old. I think our chance was 2018. We have a good team, but it is ageing. We lost some key players. We have some good new players coming, but they are not at the level other players were in 2018. I see us more as outsiders.”

Hazard expressed similar sentiments. He did, however, specifically point the finger at his team’s defence.

“Our defenders are not the fastest and they know that,”

said the Real Madrid attacker, who currently serves as the captain of the Belgian national team.

Centre-back Vertonghen responded to those claims by telling the media after the loss to Morocco:

“I guess we attack badly because we are also too old up front. We didn’t create enough chances.”

“We conceded the same goal twice at the near post. It’s very frustrating and things aren’t going the way we want at present, but we have the weapons to move and get something from the third game.”

After two games, Belgium have three points on the board. They will face table-toppers Croatia on December 1.
