‘If I was running Indian cricket, I would swallow my pride and look at England’ – Vaughan

Former England batter Michael Vaughan is of the opinion that the Indian team should look at England’s way of playing the sport in white-ball cricket.

India, captained by Rohit Sharma, faced a humiliating 10-wicket defeat at the hands of Jos Buttler’s England at the Adelaide Oval and crashed out of the T20 World Cup 2022. England, on the other hand, went on to win their second World Cup title after beating Pakistan by five wickets in the final at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Vaughan reckoned that England hels their nerve and made an incredible comeback following their five-run defeat to Ireland in the Super 12 match at MCG. The former England international put forth his opinion on his exclusive column for The Telegraph.

“England never panic. In 2019 they lost games early in the tournament to Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Here they lost to Ireland. It could have been all over both times. But they have this mentality of when it matters they know how to win. They have good game players,”

    he wrote.

“This group of England white ball players is extraordinary and for once English cricket has a trendsetting team the rest of the world should emulate. How are England going about their business? What do they do? If I was running Indian cricket, I would swallow my pride and look at England for inspiration,”

    he added.

As far as Team India is concerned, they won four out of five games in the Super 12 and looked among the strongest contenders to life the trophy. Barring their loss to South Africa, the Men in Blue looked in pretty good shape. However, they failed to put their A-game forward in the semis.

India are now scheduled to lock horns with New Zealand in a three-match T20I series that starts in a couple of days.
