Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram has been linked with a summer move to Bayern Munich, as the Bundesliga giants have shown that they intend to make a big move for a prominent striker just one summer after losing Robert Lewandowski.
And now the player who is also targeted by Premier League club Everton has seemingly shot down the possibility of joining the Munich club.
Speaking to L’Equipe the 25-year-old attacker revealed that he is enjoying each day as it comes following an increase in transfer interest, with Thuram set for a January move as he enters the final six months of his contract with Gladbach.
Despite being valued at 43 million euro by Gladbach, according to BILD, there is a strong possibility that Thuram will leave the club for a much lower fee.
Moreover, Graeme Bailey of 90MIN claims that the player is also on Everton’s radar, with manager Frank Lampard set to add to the Toffees’ attack in the new year to help Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Anthony Gordon.
Thuram appears to have backed away from talk of a move to Bayern Munich in 2023, with the attacker being fairly candid in his response to recent rumours linking the France international to the European and German giants.
“Bayern is a very big club. But it is really day after day for me. What would be the point of projecting myself three years ahead? My ambition is to become the best player possible. So, if I want to become the best Marcus possible, it’s tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, not in two years,”
Thuram said.
Thuram’s mind may already be set on Bayern, but the possibility of the striker joining the club remains as strong as it has been since links emerged earlier this month. And missing out on the forward would be a huge blow to Lampard’s transfer plans at Everton.
After all, the English coach could use a quality attacking option who can play in a variety of front-line positions, and Thuram fits the bill perfectly. However, Bayern will always be a threat to the Toffees in this transfer race, which appears to be heading in only one direction.
