Both Milan sides were in control on Saturday as the two sides registered clinical victories in their respective games. Stefano Pioli’s AC Milan took on Juventus in a clash of the titans, while Simone Inzaghi’s Internazionale got the better of a gritty Sassuolo side.

Stalwart Bosnia and Herzegovina striker Edin Dzeko was on target for the Nerazzuri, scoring two well-taken goals to seal victory for his team. The red side of Milan was on song against the Old Lady, putting in a fantastic team performance to bag a further three points.

Sassuolo hosted 19-time Serie A champions Inter at the Citta del Tricolore as the visitors looked to get their season back on track. Inter were ninth in the league prior to the game, as four losses very early in the season.

The game did not begin in very frantic fashion, as both sides took time to settle in, but slowly transformed into a very creative game, chances coming thick and fast on either side of the pitch. The first breakthrough, however, came only just before the halftime whistle, as the technically brilliant Dzeko put away a simple chance to give his team the lead going into the break.

Davide Frattesi would equalise for Sassoulo, who are without main man Domenico Berardi, but his effort was for nought, as Dzeko would strike again, sending a thumping header into the hosts’ net. Henrikh Mkhitaryan was behind the move, floating an inch-perfect ball into the path of the Bosnian’s experienced head, deciding the outcome of the contest.

Defending champions Milan bounced back brilliantly from their 3-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge to Chelsea in the Champions League, getting the better of Juventus.

They threatened from the word go with Rafael Leao and Brahim Diaz before Fikayo Tomori smashed home a goal from a set piece to put his side in front. Diaz doubled Milan’s lead shortly after with an outstanding run, as he went past four Juventus defenders to score.

The Bianconeri did have their chances, but Dusan Vlahovic had a poor outing, failing to get a shot away and making an error that led to a Milan goal. To make things worse, Moise Kean missed a sitter in the latter stages of the game, as the tie ended 2-0.
