With an identical record to the Parisians, the unbeaten Olympique Marseille are second in the Ligue 1 table – having beaten Lille OSC 2-1 over the weekend. Meanwhile, Monaco are on the rise after their win over Lyon.

Marseille, nonetheless, fell behind to Lille in the 12th minute of their encounter. A combination play between Adam Ounas, Bafode Diakite, and Jonathan David down the right presented Ounas with a chance to shoot at goal. His shot rattled the far post, but the ball was turned in by left-wingback Ismaily.

The Olympiens weren’t behind for long. A sweeping counter-attack in the 26th minute led by Amine Harit ended with a tap-in for Alexis Sanchez from close range, the telling pass provided by Cengiz Under, whose run into space was picked to perfection by Harit.

Marseille turned the game completely around a minute past the hour mark, when Samuel Gigot scored his first of the season from a set-piece, converting a flick-on by Sead Kolasinac.

Elsewhere, AS Monaco continued their rise up the table at the expense of Lyon, who have now lost two matches back-to-back.

Monaco took the lead through Benoit Badiashile’s glancing header in the 56th minute, the young defender getting his head to the end of a Caio Henrique corner. Henrique supplied the assist for Monaco’s second goal, too, scored just seven minutes later by centre-back Guillermo Maripan.

Lyon pulled a goal back in the 81st minute when Karl Toko Ekambi volleyed a Rayan Cherki cross into the corner of the net, but it proved nothing more than mere consolation, as Monaco held on to their narrow lead until the end.

Finally, Stade Rennais continued their good run by thrashing Auxerre 5-0 with five different players – Kamaldeen Sulemana, Amine Gouiri, Martin Terrier, Flavien Tait, and Matthis Abline – getting on the scoresheet.

Nice, meanwhile, needed only one – Andy Delort – to help them past Ajaccio.
