Sri Lanka spinner Wanindu Hasaranga has been denied a No Objection Certificate by Sri Lanka Cricket to participate in the ongoing The Hundred 2022 Men’s Competition. The mystery spinner, who was signed by Manchester Originals for 100,000 pounds has been forced to pull out of the contract.

It has been learnt that the board denied Hasaranga a NOC to ensure that he remains physically and mentally fresh ahead of the Asia Cup 2022 to be played in the UAE, beginning August 27, and the T20 World Cup to be played in Australia in November-December.

Hasaranga was earlier expected to miss The Hundred, which would have clashed with the Lanka Premier League, had the latter not been postponed. The Manchester Originals still have an option to retain him for the 2023 edition if the contract can be agreed upon.

As per an ESPNcricinfo report, South Africa young sensation Tristian Stubbs, who recently demonstrated his batting prowess against England with a 28-ball 72 in a run-chase of 325, has been signed as a replacement. Stubbs will join the Originals after South Africa’s second T20I against Ireland in Bristol on August 5.

Originals will begin their 2022 campaign with their opening game against Originals against Northern Superchargers at Old Trafford on Friday.

Meanwhile, Pakistan speedster Naseem Shah, who was part of the Welsh Fire setup, has withdrawn from the tournament after being selected for the national team for their tour to the Netherlands and the Asia Cup.

His replacement hasn’t been announced yet. Birmingham Phoenix have roped in Worcestershire all-rounder Brett D’Oliveira and Glamorgan seamer Timm van der Gugten as injury replacements for Tom Abell and Olly Stone, respectively.
