Chelsea have had another bid rejected by Leicester City for centre-back Wesley Fofana worth 70 million pounds plus add-ons. As much was confirmed by the Foxes’ manager Brendan Rodgers.
The Northern Irishman corroborated that the coaching staff has decided to send Fofana down to train with the reserves until the situation is resolved. Chelsea play Leicester this weekend with the Frenchman expected to miss the game.
“We’ve received one fresh bid for Fofana and it has been turned down. He is training with the Under-23s after failing to turn up to a training session last week,”
Rodgers said following his side’s win over Stockport in the EFL Cup.
Chelsea have seen three bids rebuffed by the Foxes, each worth 60-70 million pounds. However, softening his stance on the player’s future, Rodgers also claimed that the transfer is only a matter of time.
“The player clearly wants to go and it’s really about the clubs finding an agreement. So once that happens, it will be resolved then,”
Rodgers told talkSPORT.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are set to loan out Callum Hudson-Odoi to Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen. The winger has become surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge and is yet to feature in Thomas Tuchel’s matchday squad this season.
That and the Blues’ pursuit of Everton star Anthony Gordon has put Hudson-Odoi’s future up in the air, and a dry loan to Leverkusen is on the cards, as per multiple reports.
Leverkusen, meanwhile, will hope that the addition of the youngster gives them a much-needed boost. Gerardo Seoane’s side are zero from three to start the season and currently languishing at the bottom of the Bundesliga table.
Should a deal go through in time, Hudson-Odoi will become the club’s second signing of the season after Czech stiker Adam Hlozek.
