Saints have signed France youth international striker Sekou Mara from Girondins de Bordeaux, following the latter’s relegation from the French top division. Southampton have paid Bordeaux a basic fee of 11 million euros – plus an additional two million in add-ons – to transfer the rights of the player, who, in turn, has penned a four-year contract with Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side, becoming their sixth signing of the season.

Speaking to the club website, the 19-year-old claimed that Southampton is the best place for him to develop in his formative years.

“I’m really happy to sign for Southampton and to be a Saint for the next years. Southampton have given me a good opportunity to progress.

“I’m a young player and I have to work. I think Southampton is the best club for me to develop myself and progress to be one of the best. I’m impatient to begin with this team and score goals.”

Meanwhile, Fulham have finally announced the signing of Israel international Manor Solomon from Shakhtar Donetsk, following a long and drawn-out negotiation process.

Taking advantage of a FIFA ruling that allows non-Ukrainian players based in Ukraine to suspend their contract, the Cottagers have brought in the young attacker on a one-year deal.

“There are some great players here and I am determined to help Fulham achieve its goals for the year. I also want to send a big hug to my friends and supporters in Ukraine. You are in my thoughts,”

he said in his first interview for the club.

Solomon becomes the Cottagers’ third senior signing ahead of their return to the Premier League, following midfielders Joao Palhinha (Sporting Club) and Andreas Pereira (Manchester United).
