Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has slammed his Bayern Munich counterpart Julian Nagelsmann for his remarks about Harry Kane. In a recent media interaction, the German hinted that the Bundesliga champions could make a move for the England captain next year.
Kane is widely regarded as one of the game’s best strikers right now. The Tottenham Hotspur star was on the verge of leaving the club last summer after receiving strong interest from Manchester City, but he ultimately stayed. After a slow start to the season, Kane improved under Conte and has been outstanding since.
He was instrumental in Tottenham’s Premier League top-four finish, which helped them return to the UEFA Champions League. Bayern cast admiring glances toward the striker due to his quality and goal-scoring abilities. After losing Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona, the Bavarians are looking for a new centre-forward.

While they have ruled out a summer transfer for Kane, the Bavarians are planning a 2023 move for the England captain. When asked about the rumours, CEO Oliver Kahn remained tight-lipped. And Nagelsmann openly expressed his admiration for Kane, hinting that Bayern might try to sign him next year.
In response, Conte hit back at Nagelsmann per the Daily Mail, saying:
“For sure, I am a coach that does not speak about other players at other teams. I don’t know why. The situation with Tottenham is very clear. The plan is very clear with the club. He [Kane] is a part of the project, an important part of the project.
“At the same time, I don’t like to speak about the players of other clubs. If I want to do something, I’ll go and speak with the club and not go through the media. Maybe it is a little disrespectful for the other club. This is my way of dealing with the situation with other players”
Despite Bayern’s reported interest in signing Kane next year, it is extremely unlikely that they will be able to do so because Spurs do not want to sell him and the striker himself wants to stay as part of Conte’s project.
