Squandering a two-goal lead were Manchester United in Perth; the Red Devils, on the final leg of their tour of Australia, were up against Aston Villa, whom they hit for two in the first half but conceded two in the second.

Jadon Sancho gave United the lead in the 25th minute. The Englishman stood patiently at the back post before firing a volley off a Luke Shaw cross.

The former Borussia Dortmund man was involved again in the second, which arrived in the 42nd minute after his cross was deflected onto Matty Cash by Marcus Rashford for an own goal.

Leon Bailey put the Villans back in the game four minutes past the restart. The winger drifted in from the right flank, created space for himself with a couple of stepovers, and unleashed a fierce strike that went in off the far post.

Callum Chambers headed in Villa’s second from a corner just before the full-time whistle, and the game finished 2-2.

Elsewhere, Erling Haaland scored 12 minutes into his Manchester City debut, his goal the only one that separated the Citizens from opponents Bayern Munich at the end of the night. Kevin De Bruyne started the play that ended in the goal by stealing the ball on the edge of the Bayern box. The Belgian played in Jack Grealish, whose squared cut-back across the box was tapped in by Haaland.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur beat Rangers 2-1 in Ibrox thanks to a second-half double from Harry Kane. But, the Scottish side took the lead in the 20th minute through Antonio Colak, who, following his striker’s instincts, pounced onto the loose ball close to the goal and slid a shot past Hugo Lloris.

Kane scored the first of his two in the 50th minute, drifting inside with the ball in his feet from the left. The Englishman used Rangers defender Connor Goldson as a shield and curled his shot into the far corner to bring Spurs level. Six minutes later, Kane collected a ball on the edge of the box and fired a volley in at the near post, completing the turnaround.

    Enough said.
