The Blues are reportedly in danger of losing not one, but two academy gems to Premier League clubs this summer. Striker Armando Broja and central defender Levi Colwill, both of whom enjoyed stellar seasons out on loan last year, are nearing moves elsewhere.
Chelsea academy gem Broja is nearing a permanent switch to West Ham, The Athletic reports. The Albanian, who spent last season on loan at Premier League side Southampton and scored nine goals in 38 appearances, has returned to England from the Blues’ training camp in the United States as the two rivals continue to negotiate over a transfer fee – believed to be in the region of 30 million pounds.
According to the report, the player’s representatives have also struck an agreement with the Hammers over personal terms, albeit are yet to lay down the length of the contract.
Despite the apparent West Ham interest, Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel denied that the striker was on his way out in a recent media appearance. The German claimed that the club is not interested in selling the forward despite the rumors circulating that state otherwise.
”It’s good if there’s interest as it shows us there’s talent and potential. It shows us that he is in the position to impress and become a Chelsea player. When will he become a Chelsea player? No one knows but hopefully as soon as possible,”
Tuchel told the club’s website.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are now also in danger of losing centre-back Colwill. The England youth international enjoyed a stellar season on loan at Huddersfield last year and has attracted plenty of Premier League interest since his return to his parent club – rumours that continue to grow with each passing week.
According to The Athletic, Colwill will look to leave the club permanently this summer if they sign more defenders; Chelsea have already brought in Kalidou Koulibaly from SSC Napoli and are rumoured to be in talks to sign both Presnel Kimpembe (PSG) and Jules Kounde (Sevilla).
