The Blaugrana have finally reached an agreement with Bayern Munich to sign Robert Lewandowski for a reported 50 million euro fee, reports renowned journalist Gianluca di Marzio. The Poland international has remained one of Barcelona’s top targets ever since it was revealed that the prolific striker was considering leaving the German champions.
However, Bayern remained firm in their demands for the two-time FIFA The Best award winner, despite the fact that he still had a year left on his contract at the Allianz Arena, but a deal has now been reached that suits all parties.
Speaking to Bild, Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn said:
“In the end, Barcelona offered a sum that selling him made absolute sense for us. We’ve also recently been very successful on the transfer market and signed an absolutely world-class player for the offence in Sadio Mane.
So we have now reached an agreement with Barcelona. So far, however, only verbally, the contract is still pending.”
That contract appears to have been reached between Lewandowski and Barcelona, with the striker set to sign a three-year deal in Catalunya. The Spanish club will pay an initial 45 million for him, with an additional 5 million due in potential add-ons.
With summer signing Raphinha joining an attacking unit that includes Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ansu Fati, and Ferran Torres, the Blaugrana already have plenty of firepower within their ranks. Barcelona, however, are always on the lookout for the best talent available, and the opportunity to sign Lewandowski is too good to pass up.
He may be 33 years old, but he is still one of the best attackers on the planet. At Bayern, he amassed 344 goals in 375 appearances while also playing a key role in eight Bundesliga titles and a Champions League triumph.

Barcelona are preparing to travel to the United States for the start of their pre-season programme, and Lewandowski is expected to join them there once the formalities of his transfer are completed.
