Nottingham are strengthening their squad ahead of their maiden Premier League campaign since 1999. The Tricky Trees have completed and officially announced the signing of left-back Omar Richards from Bayern Munich. The Englishman has agreed to a four-year contract, and the deal is expected to be in the range of 8.5 million pounds.

Richards had joined Bayern in July 2021 after leaving his boyhood club Reading. The 24-year-old spent a season with the Bavarians in 2021/22 and made 17 appearances for them across all competitions, which included 12 Bundesliga matches.

He was largely relegated to a role on the bench for the German champions and played the full 90 minutes in only one league game.

“I’m thrilled to return to England by joining Nottingham Forest at such an exciting time. The club has enjoyed an incredible last few months and there’s great ambitions for the Premier League return”.

“I’ve played against Forest in the past and they get such great backing from their fans, whilst the City Ground is an amazing place that I can now call home,”

    he told Forest’s official website.

Before his adventures with Bayern Munich and Reading, the London-born defender had begun his career with Fulham but made his senior debut for the Royals in August 2017.

With Reading, he had made 104 appearances before boarding the flight to Germany. He was also included in the England U21 squad in 2019.

“I’ve seen a lot of Omar through his time with Reading and, alongside our recruitment team, we have been following his progress in Germany.”

“He previously established himself as one of the best full-backs in the Championship, but has since gone on to experience the Champions League and the Bundesliga with one of the biggest clubs in the world”.

    said Forest’s manager Steve Cooper.

Richards becomes Forest’s fifth signing of the summer after goalkeeper Dean Henderson, central defender Moussa Niakhate, right-back Giuilian Biancone and striker Taiwo Awoniyi.
