Arsenal’s star summer signing Gabriel Jesus struck twice in the second half in the Gunners’ friendly win over German second division side Nurnberg.

The Gunners trailed 2-0 going into the break, with Johannes Geis and Kwadwo Duah scoring in quick succession to give the home side the advantage just before the half-hour mark.

At half-time, Mikel Arteta introduced star summer signing Gabriel Jesus, who joined for 45 million pounds from Manchester City. The Brazilian scored 90 seconds into his debut, firing in a shot from a tight angle at the near post after a give-and-go with striker Eddie Nketiah.

Minutes later, Mohammed Elneny’s thunderbolt from outside the box brought the Gunners level before successive own goals from Nurnberg propelled them ahead on the scoreline, 4-2.

Lukas Schleimer pulled one back for the German outfit 73 minutes in, but Jesus scored his second two minutes later – a deft flick from close range – to help the Gunners to a 5-3 win.

West Ham got their pre-season campaign off to a winning start with a 2-0 win at Swiss club Servette. Their opponents missing their shooting boots on the day – Servette hit the woodwork thrice.

The Hammers capitalized with some excellent finishing from academy products Aji Alese and Divin Mubama to take a two-nil lead on either side of the break, which they protected until the final whistle.

Meanwhile, Premier League newcomers Nottingham Forest got off to a losing start in their season preparations, a 3-1 defeat to Coventry City capping an otherwise fantastic week for the Forest faithful, with the club parading in several new faces ahead of their return to the top flight.

One of those new faces, right wing-back Giulian Biancone, scored the consolation goal for Steve Cooper’s side during the defeat, while the fans got to witness Dean Henderson, Moussa Niakhate, and Taiwo Awoniyi in a Forest shirts for the first time.
