Indian batting legend, Sachin Tendulkar has been hospitalized just six days after testing positive for covid-19. The former batsman, who turns 48 later this month, had tested positive for the infection on March 27 and was placed in home isolation ever since.

Sachin was showing mild symptoms at first and has been hospitalized on Friday as a precautionary measure. As a matter of fact, today’s date also marks the 10th anniversary of India’s historic World Cup winning campaign in 2011, where they defeated Sri Lanka in the finals.

Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter to address his fans regarding the latest development, reassuring them that he would be back home in a couple of days.

Thank you for your wishes and prayers. As a matter of abundant precaution under medical advice, I have been hospitalised. I hope to be back home in a few days. Take care and stay safe everyone.

Wishing all Indians & my teammates on the 10th anniversary of our World Cup 🇮🇳 win.

Sachin Tendulkar had amassed 15,921 Test runs during his 24-year international career and is widely considered as one of the greatest batsman. The right-hander bid adieu to international cricket, playing his 200th Test match against West Indies at home in 2013.

Sachin Tendulkar recently took to the field last month, as he led the India Legends to the title in the inaugural season of the Road World Safety Series 2020-21. The tournament was postponed after just a few games, last year in March and was completed this year.

Another member of the India Legends squad, Yusuf Pathan had tested positive for the deadly virus last week. Incidentally, Yusuf was also a part of the ICC World Cup winning squad in 2011. He played a few useful knocks for India Legends during the Road Safety World Series. S Badrinath and Irfan Pathan, both of whom played the edition, have tested positive as well.
