Los Blancos striker Luka Jovic, for whom the LaLiga champions paid 60 million euros Eintracht Frankfurt three years ago, will join Serie A side ACF Fiorentina in a free transfer. As per Marca, Madrid will hold 50 per cent of the player’s rights, translating into a future sell-on percentage.

Earlier reports spoke of a loan agreement between the two clubs. Instead, Fiorentina will pay Jovic’s entire salary and bind him to a contract for two years until the end of the 2023/24 season. However, La Viola will have the option to extend his contract by another two years if they see fit.

The club’s interest in Jovic was confirmed by the sporting director Daniele Prade, who, in a recent conference, talked up their transfer targets ahead of the 2022/23 season.

“We are not interested in Riqui Puig, he’s never been on our list. We wanted to sign [Florian] Grillitsch but then we had some problems.”

“We’re in negotiations for [Luka] Jović from Real Madrid, we hope to close the deal soon – and Dodô from Shakhtar,”

    he told the club’s website.

24-year-old Jovic joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2019. Los Blancos secured a 60 million euro worth agreement with Frankfurt ahead of a horde of clubs, all of which wanted to sign the Serbian striker on the back of a breakout season. Jovic spent two-and-a-half years at Real – and half-a-year back in Frankfurt on loan – where he made 51 appearances and scored just three goals.

Luka Jović to Fiorentina, deal done. Full agreement on permanent deal, after long negotiations for a loan – Jović will sign until June 2024 with an option for two more years. 🚨🇷🇸 #transfers @SkySport

Joining Jovic from Spain to Italy will be Real Madrid academy graduate Mario Gila. As per Fabrizio Romano, the 21-year-old centre-back will sign for Lazio in a 6 million euro deal on a long-term contract.
