SRH bowling coach Muttiah Muralitharan has been admitted to the hospital in Chennai on 17th April. The Sri Lankan legendary spinner was admitted for cardiac treatment. According to reports, he is stable and out of danger.

It hasn’t been the best of starts for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2021. On the field, they have lost three games in a row and are at the bottom of the points table. They are the only side to have not won a game so far in this competition.

Off the field, they’ve received some bad news as well. Their bowling coach Muttiah Muralitharan was admitted to the hospital for cardiac treatment. However, of what was heard and report last, the legendary Sri Lankan spinner is out of danger and seems to be doing fine.

According to the SRH officials, Muralitharan had gone for some consultation and check-ups to Apollo Hospital in Chennai. It was there that he was immediately admitted on the advice of the doctors who could start the treatment as soon as possible. The Sunrisers CEO revealed that Muralitharan underwent angioplasty at Apollo Hospital.

“He had consulted doctors in Sri Lanka over blockage in his heart before coming for the IPL. He was initially told there was no need for any stents but at the Apollo Hospital here in Chennai, he was advised angioplasty. He immediately got it done. He is very much fine and he should back in the ground in a few days,”

the SRH CEO Shanmuganathan was quoted saying to Cricbuzz.

Muralitharan, the highest wicket-taker in Tests and ODIs, has been with the SRH since the start of the IPL 2015. He has been a mentor and a bowling coach. Moreover, he was seen at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai when SRH took on defending champions Mumbai Indians on Saturday (16th April), which also happened to be his 49th birthday.
