While Manchester United are eyeing a move for freshly minted free agent Christian Eriksen, the club is resigned to losing backup custodian Dean Henderson, with newly-promoted Nottingham Forest keen.

Manchester United have offered Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen a contract to continue his return to football at Old Trafford from next season, reports The Athletic. In January, nearly six months after suffering a cardiac arrest on-field at the European championships, the player returned to action to sign a short-term deal with Premier League newcomers Brentford.

The former Tottenham playmaker helped his compatriot Thomas Frank guide the Bees to a commendable mid-table finish in their first season in the top flight but has, so far, refused to commit his future to the club beyond June 30.

Speaking to Viaplay, Eriksen, 30, threw doubts over a Brentford extension, claiming that he would love to play in the top tier of football again – the UEFA Champions League.

“I have different offers and options, which we are considering, and then we make a decision. I would love to play Champions League football again. I know how much fun it is, but it isn’t essential for me.”

Nottingham Forest, who achieved promotion back to the Premier League ahead of the 2022/23 season, are eyeing a move for Manchester United’s reserve goalkeeper Dean Henderson, reports Fabrizio Romano.

Henderson has had game time hard to come by while at United, his parent club, to which he returned two years earlier after two hugely successful seasons on loan at Sheffield United. The Englishman hasn’t been able to replace stalwart David de Gea in goal for the Red Devils and could finally be on his way out.

As per Romano, Forest are prepared to take Henderson off United by proposing a loan move with the option to buy the custodian outright at the end of the season; the 25-year-old is valued at 20 million pounds but is on a long-term contract with relatively high wages.

Furthermore, the Premier League new boys are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper after it came to light that Brice Samba had refused to sign fresh terms and was on his way out.
