Tottenham have agreed a fee with Brighton & Hove Albion for the transfer of central midfielder Yves Bissouma. Middlesbrough right-back Djed Spence could follow the Mali international, with the youngster opting for a move to Spurs ahead of Nottingham Forest.

As per the Times, the North London club will pay Brighton 25 million pounds for Bissouma, who will undergo a medical later this week before formally completing the move. However, controversy could follow the Mali international to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium; he is currently under a police investigation after accusations of sexual assault surfaced against him in October 2021.

Bissouma joined Brighton from Lille OSC in 2018 for an undisclosed fee – reportedly 17 million euros. He became a key player in the Seagulls’ midfield over the next four years under manager Graham Potter, eventually catching the eye of some of the bigger clubs in the country – and beyond. Aston Villa explored the possibility of signing the midfielder last January, with his contract expiring in 2023, but he stayed put then.

With Bissouma set to join, Spurs could turn their attention to adding a right-back. Middlesbrough’s Djed Spence is a target and, as per The Athletic, would prefer a switch to North London instead of Nottingham Forest, whom he helped reach the Premier League after more than two decades through the Championship playoffs.

The two clubs are yet to reach an agreement regarding a transfer fee, with Boro valuing their star asset at 20 million pounds. However, Spence would opt to join Tottenham over other suitors due to the prospects of playing under manager Antonio Conte and in the UEFA Champions League.

Tottenham are moving quickly in the summer market after promising Conte significant investment in a squad that finished fourth last term. The club has already signed Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster on free transfers and, apart from Bissouma and Spence, are also linked with Everton forward Richarlison.
