Paris Saint Germain and Manchester United have entered the race to sign Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski, L’Equipe and ESPN claim. The Polie is also of interest to FC Barcelona, with many club figures addressing the rumours publicly in recent weeks.

The 33-year-old recently opened up the possibility of a move elsewhere after almost a decade at Bayern. Lewandowski, whose contract is up at the end of the current season, claimed while on international duty that his relationship with the Bavarians is over – as he sees it.

“One thing is certain today — my story with Bayern is over. After everything that has happened in recent months, I cannot imagine further good cooperation. I realize a transfer will be the best solution for both sides,”

     he said.

Despite interest from other clubs, the Blaugrana remain the leading contenders to land Lewandowski this summer. The player himself admitted in a separate media appearance that he would welcome a move to Barcelona this summer – but the Spanish giants’ poor finances mean that a transfer would be complicated.

As such, PSG and Manchester United are waiting in the wings, hoping for an opportunity to pounce at Europe’s deadliest strikers should Barcelona fail to formalize an offer for the Pole.

Lewandowski joined Bayern in a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund in 2014, after helping the latter win the Bundesliga title in 2010/11 and 2011/12. With the forward leading the line, Bayern won eight back-to-back league titles, six of which he contributed to as the top scorer of the season domestically.

He also won the Champions League with the Bavarians in 2019/20 after finishing as runners-up to them while at Dortmund seven years earlier.
