Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan was seen hugging a fan who invaded the pitch during the side’s second ODI against the West Indies on June 10.

Fans invading a cricket field has been a common sight in recent times, with them being keen to get the best sight of their heroes. One such incident took place during the second ODI between Pakistan and West Indies in Multan on Friday.

It occurred during the 39th over of the hosts’ innings, with all-rounders Mohammad Nawaz and Shadab Khan at the crease. As Anderson Philip was ready to deliver the fourth ball of the over, a young spectator stepped onto the field and ran straight through to the on-strike Shadab, offering him a salute from a handshaking distance.

The 23-year-old hugged the passionate fan, prompting huge roars from the home crowd.

Shadab’s gesture even left former Windies quick and now commentator Ian Bishop, who took to Twitter to praise the youngster.

“Great moment just now when a spectator ran onto the field. Instead of being violent with him (because it could have been dangerous, plus COVID), Shadab Khan hugged him and sent him on his way. P.S. I understand all the reasons why that is frowned upon,”

    he tweeted.

The Men in Green eventually finished 275/8, with Imam-ul-Haq (72) and skipper Babar Azam (77) both registering their sixth straight fifty-plus scores in the format after having opted to bat.

West Indies were rattled by Pakistan spin-trio of Nawaz (4/19), Shadab (2/40) and Mohammad Wasim Jr. (3/34) in their chase and were bundled out for 155 in the 33rd over to go down by 120 runs.

The hosts have now taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, with the final game to be played at the same venue on June 12.
