RCB player AB de Villiers has claimed that the lack of home advantage for every side has balanced out the ongoing edition of IPL. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, BCCI decided to host this season of the IPL in only six venues across the country.

It was decided by the BCCI that the 2021 edition of the IPL will not have any home-away situation and all the matches will be played at neutral venues. For instance, RCB is set to play all their matches outside Bangalore. The playoffs have been scheduled in Ahmedabad to ensure that no team has any sort of home advantage at any stage of the tournament.

In a recent interview, AB de Villiers spoke about not having the home advantage and how it balances the odds for the teams. He said that it balances out the tournament as it is the same for every team, no one has home games and it really puts emphasis on adapting to different conditions.

“Every game you play, conditions will be different. The wickets will get older, you will play a different team on the same ground, it is interesting but it is the same for everyone,”

Villiers said during a video posted on the RCB’s official Twitter handle.

In the last few seasons, barring the 2020 edition when the IPL was hosted in the UAE, spectators have seen teams winning a lot of their matches at their home ground as they are better accustomed to the home conditions, which in turn contributes greatly to their success.

The South African revealed that the teams which have made their home grounds as fortress will face a few difficulties this season. The swashbuckling keeper-batsman from South Africa has been with the franchise since 2011 but is yet to win the IPL trophy. He has featured in two finals but hasn’t won any of those.

Mr. 360 claimed that he doesn’t know how he will react if he wins the tournament. He said that he would love to win the IPL trophy one day.

RCB are all set to play their next match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday, April 18.
