Australian international cricketer Delissa Kimmince has retired from top-level cricket after a short international career. The all-round cricketer took a break from cricket after last year’s WBBL and has decided to step away from the game permanently.

Kimmince made her international debut at the age of just 18 against New Zealand Women in 2008. However, three years later, she took a break from the game of cricket. The medium-pacer returned to cricket and finished with 14 scalps in ODIs and 45 wickets in T20Is for Australia.

Delissa’s best T20I figures of 3 for 20 came against England Women in Mumbai in 2018. She was thrice a part of Australia’s World Cup-winning side in the shortest format. She played a pivotal role in guiding her team to title victory in the 2014, 2018 and 2020 T20 World Cup. Moreover, she is also a two-time WBBL winner with Brisbane Heat.

“DK should be incredibly proud of her contribution to Australian cricket,”

    said national selector Shawn Flegler.

He further added that Kimmince has been a wonderful teammate and an important member of the Ashes and T20 World Cup-winning squads. He went on to thank her for her outstanding service to the game and Australian cricket.

Australia Women last played against New Zealand in a 3-match ODI series. The team went on to win the series 3-nil in an emphatic fashion. New Zealand Women were outplayed in all three games.
