Liverpool confirm trophy parade for day after Champions League final

Liverpool have scheduled a trophy parade on May 29, the day after the UEFA Champions League Final, to celebrate the Men’s senior teams FA Cup and EFL Cup wins – at least. The LFC Women’s team will also celebrate winning the FA Women’s Championship.

Liverpool have confirmed that they will host a trophy parade the day after the UEFA Champions League Final on May 28, regardless of the outcome of the match. The Reds will travel to Paris to participate in the trophy bout against Real Madrid, whom they suffered a loss to at the same stage of the competition in the 2017/18 season.

Jurgen Klopp’s team is still on track for a historic season; the Merseysiders, apart from being in the Champions League Final, also trail rivals Manchester City by a point in the Premier League ahead of the final day of the 2021/22 season.

Should they better the result that the Citizens produce at Villa Park – where Pep Guardiola’s side will be taking on Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa – the Reds will win their second-ever Premier League title. It is, coincidentally, a repeat of the 2018/19 season when the two teams found themselves in the same position, with City pipping Liverpool on that occasion.

But, Klopp and Co will have something to celebrate, regardless of the outcomes of the Champions League and the Premier League. Liverpool won the FA Cup and the EFL Cup earlier this season, beating Chelsea on both occasions via a penalty shootout. Furthermore, the Liverpool Women’s squad will also be a part of the celebrations; the Reds’ Ladies team won the FA Women’s Championship this season – the second division in the English football women’s pyramid – thus winning promotion back to the Women’s Super League.

Liverpool city mayor Joanne Anderson confirmed the club was granted permission to celebrate its multiple achievements later this month through the parade – which will commence at Alberton Maze and culminate at Blundell Street.

“Lifting the FA Cup, the Carabao Cup, and the FA Women’s Championship trophy is an incredible achievement that deserves to be acknowledged and we have everything crossed that they won’t be the only trophies they are lifting on the day!”

    she said.

Should they win all the competitions they are a part of this season, Liverpool would’ve completed an unprecedented quadruple – the first in English football.
