While Erling Haaland has already signed with Manchester City in England, Robert Lewandowski seems desperate to move to Barcelona and has refused a new contract with Bayern Munich. Both the talismanic strikers found the back of the net in the last round of Bundesliga fixtures this season.

Bayern have been caught in turmoil over the last couple of weeks. Star striker Lewandowski, who is among the best players in the world, has felt disrespected by the club’s lack of faith in him and has refused to renew his contract which ends in 2023. Desperate to try a new challenge on the shores of Spain, the Pole already has an agreement in place with Barcelona.

However, Bayern are aware that they will be losing a 50-goal-a-season striker and are desperate to not let him go. Top brass, including president Herbert Hainer and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic, openly declared that he had a contract until 2023 and has to fulfill it. Head coach Julian Nagelsmann nodded in agreement.

This conflict proved to be the backdrop as the already-crowned German champions took to the field against Wolfsburg in their last fixture this season. Josip Stanisic and Lewandowski’s goals got cancelled out by Jonas Wind and Max Kruse’s attempts and the game ended at 2-2.

Following the match, the headlines continued to revolve around Lewandowski who went public with his desire to leave the club.

“It’s very possible that this was my last game for Bayern. I cannot say that at 100%, but it may have been [my last game]. We want to find the best solution for me and for the club.

“I won’t sign a new contract. We have to find the best solution for both sides. I told the club that if an offer comes in, then we have to think about it – also for the club,”

    he said.

Meanwhile, Borussia bid goodbye to Norwegian sensation Haaland and offered him a fitting tribute after his move to Manchester City got confirmed a few days ago.

The Norwegian scored his last goal for BVB from the penalty spot to restore parity in the contest after Hertha Berlin went ahead through Ishak Belfodil. Youngster Youssoufa Moukoko then found the back of the net with six minutes left on the clock to end Dortmund’s Bundesliga campaign with a win.
