Rajasthan Royals player Riyan Parag revealed that former cricketer Sauvik Das and Mukund Kalita built the nets at their academy for him to train.

In a video shared by the franchise on their social media, Parag, Jos Buttler and Jimmy Neesham recalled stories in their life that helped them in a segment called ‘Sambhal Lenge Moments’.

Parag said that former cricketer Sauvik Das and Mukund Kalita found out that he is from India’s north east and helped him.

“So cricket facilities in Assam, where I live, are not that great. Last year before the IPL I didn’t really have any way to practice. But two of the guys, Sauvik Das and Mukund Kalita, found out ‘We Are Northeast’ and built like a 100m, 4×4 side-to-side, just the net, some astroturf and a ground for the bowlers to bowl,”

    the 20-year-old said.

He added that he goes to train there sometimes even after the infrastructure development in Assam.

“That’s how I practiced. So, even now, now that we have built infrastructure in Assam and we’ve got different places to practice, I still like to go back there and practice there because they helped me when I needed it the most.”

Buttler shared a story about his manager Neil Fairbrother, who encouraged him to keep going during a difficult phase. The English superstar revealed that he was ready to quit the sport after a disappointing performance in Test cricket. But Fairbrother drove all the way and talked to him.

The Englishman has been in incredible form in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League, leading the orange cap race with 588 runs in 10 matches. He has smashed three hundreds and three fifties in the competition and has played a pivotal role in their success.
