RB Leipzig midfielder Christopher Nkunku has garnered the attention of almost all of Europe’s top clubs this season. The 24-year-old is in the centre of a bidding war involving five European heavyweights.

As per ESPN, Bayern Munich are the latest to join the queue for the French attacker, while Manchester United, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and AC Milan have already positioned themselves to pounce on any opportunity this summer.

The 24-year-old has been one of Leipzig’s standout performers this season. He has scored 31 times in 48 appearances across all competitions, helping his side push for a Champions League spot through both the league and the continental cup despite a difficult start to the season.

His form, domestically, hasn’t gone unnoticed at the national team camp; in the latest international window, Didier Deschamps handed Nkunku the first of his two caps for the France national team despite the dearth of talent at his disposal.

Nkunku is even wanted back at PSG – the club he left for Leipzig in 2019. Though he won three titles in Paris and made almost 80 appearances, lack of regular game time pushed the Frenchman out of the door and he ended up building his career in Germany.

However, as per transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio, the player is much likelier to move to the Premier League than back to Ligue 1.

Leipzig signed the attacker in 2019 under the guidance of United’s current interim manager – and soon-to-be consultant – Ralf Rangnick, with reports as far back as March claiming that the German wanted Nkunku to be his first signing for the club.

Regardless, whichever club decides to sign Nkunku this summer will need to part ways with a considerable amount of money; the youngster is valued at 60 million euros by Leipzig and has a valid contract until 2024.
