Midfielder Christian Eriksen has been at his very best for Brentford since making a comeback from the devastating heart ailment that led to his cardiac arrest in Euro 2020 and had sidelined him for nearly six months. As per Sky Sports, Manchester United could initiate transfer talks with the Dane but are expected to face competition from Eriksen’s former club Tottenham.

Eriksen is back and thriving in the Premier League after signing a six-month contract with Brentford in the winter transfer window. The 30-year-old had been without a club in the months prior to the signing because of his heart problem.

The midfielder had suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch in his side’s opening Euro 2020 game against Finland (0-1). He had to be operated on and was fitted with an ICD device. However, despite recovering and returning to the pitch to continue playing football, Eriksen’s contract with Inter Milan had to be terminated as the Serie A doesn’t allow players with medically fitted devices.

Following a strong spell in his initial few months with Brentford, who have made a major impression and are 12th in the Premier League table, Eriksen has appeared on the transfer radar of Manchester United.  Incoming new United manager Erik ten Hag has reportedly asked for his signing and believes that Eriksen is the perfect player in midfielder to launch his revolution at Old Trafford.

The Dutchman is well aware of the 30-year-old’s abilities as Eriksen had been training with his former club, Ajax, as he continued his recovery following the cardiac attack. He was left extremely impressed by the former Tottenham man as well as several high-profile Ajax players.

The Amsterdam club were intent on signing their former teenage superstar but had fears regarding his medical condition at this stage of his career as well as doubts on whether he would be able to perform at the highest level once again following the devastating incident.

Eriksen will be free to sign, with his contract with Brentford expiring in the summer. That makes him an even more attractive proposition for the entire league, and Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has made no secret of his interest in reacquiring his former player.

Eriksen had won the Serie A with the Nerrazurri under Conte and had also served Spurs for seven years between 2013 and 2020.
