It’s been a bad week, says Xavi after Barcelona lose second home game in four days

FC Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez was left annoyed at his side’s second home defeat in four days. The Blaugrana lost in the league against a lowly Cadiz, just days after crashing out of the Europa League with a defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.

In his recent interview, the Spaniard claimed he was angry at the manner of defeat his side suffered in yesterday’s LaLiga clash against a relegation-threatened Cadiz, threatening their position in the standings and disrupting the incredible run of form they have been on lately.

“We are angry, the players first, because we missed a golden chance to separate ourselves from those in the fight for the Champions League places and also to [keep] fighting for LaLiga, which we’ve practically said goodbye to now.

I am annoyed and we have to be self-critical, myself first, as the coach. We’re playing to be in the Champions League, that’s why I am so angry. There was a lack of desire and determination. It’s been a really bad week and we have to turn things around as soon as possible.”

    he stated.

Former Arsenal forward Lucas Perez scored the only goal on Monday night as Cadiz came away with an unlikely win at the Camp Nou. Barcelona, for their part, peppered the Cadiz goal with shots across both halves but custodian Jeremias Ledesma’s incredible display ensured that the minnows left the stadium with their clean sheet intact.

The defeat left Barcelona 15 points behind league leaders – and rivals – Real Madrid, who had overcome top-four chasers Sevilla 3-2 on Sunday night despite being two goals down at half-time.

Meanwhile, the Blaugrana had bid their only chance of lifting silverware this season farewell four days earlier, exiting the Europa League after a defeat to Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt; Xavi’s side lost 3-4 on aggregate despite scoring twice late on in the tie.
