Barcelona full-back Dani Alves has weighed in on the Kylian Mbappe-Erling Haaland discourse, claiming that the former is worth more than the latter. The 38-year-old, who returned to the Blaugrana after five years in November, stated that he would not go “all out” for the Norwegian as he would for the Frenchman.

Alves, who was often a supporting act in the rivalry between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, claimed he wouldn’t spend a lot of money on Haaland, 21, whose current value on Transfermarkt is 150 million euros.

“I wouldn’t go all out for Haaland. Honestly, I wouldn’t spend a lot of money on him. On Mbappe yes, but not on Haaland. I’m playing sporting director, eh, but I’d go for Mbappe first, I think he’s more complete in every aspect.”

he was quoted as saying by Marca.

Alves went as far as recommending his former PSG teammate Mbappe as an ideal recruit for Barcelona during his interview, claiming that, at present, there isn’t any player who could fit the club’s style of play better than the 2018 World Cup winner.

“If you’re going to make a huge investment, you have to make it in the best. If it was up to me, I’d go for Mbappe. He’s the best there is, and for Barcelona’s style, at the moment, in football, there is no one better than him,”

the most decorated player in the world added.

Unfortunately for Alves and the Barcelona faithful, Mbappe appears to be in the process of joining their fierce rivals Real Madrid this summer. Despite Paris Saint-Germain’s last-ditch attempts to renew the youngster’s contract, the 23-year-old Frenchman is expected to leave the club for free and join the ranks of the Galacticos, just a little less than a year after his current club turned down a massive nine-figure sum from his suitors.

While the negotiations between the player’s camp and Los Blancos are yet to enter an advanced stage, the club remains confident over securing his signature for subsequent seasons, says Marca.
