Brentford’s Christian Eriksen got on the scoresheet at Stamford Bridge as his side recorded as first win over Chelsea since 1939. Liverpool, meanwhile, defeated Watford 2-0 to keep up the pressure on leaders Manchester City in the title race, whereas Manchester United drew against Leicester City at home.

With the first half seeing no goals, the Stamford Bridge crowd was sent into a frenzy as Chelsea centre-back Antonio Rudiger, who is out of contract in the summer, found the back of the net with a long-rage strike just after half-time.

However, that goal proved to be nothing more than a consolation for Thomas Tuchel’s side, who were in for a rough 40 minutes. Midfielder Vitaly Janelt then struck moments later while Eriksen slotted the ball home with a cool finish after beating the keeper inside the box.

This was the Dane’s first goal for Brentford, and he has been in fine form as the former Spurs man also scored for his country during the international break at the Parken Stadium, where he could have died due to a heart attack at Euro 2020 last June.

Janelt, who recently signed a new contract extension with the club, added his second in the 60th with a lovely chip over Edouard Mendy in goal. Yoane Wissa put Chelsea out of their misery with a drilled effort three minutes before the end of regulated time.

At Anfield, Liverpool capped off a wonderful display which resulted in a 2-0 win over Watford. Jurgen Klopp’s side took the lead through Diogo Jota’s header in the 22nd minute before Fabinho sealed the win from the penalty spot late in the game.

The win keeps Liverpool within a point of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table. On the other hand, Watford have suffered 20 losses and are stuck in the relegation zone with 22 points.

It was another disappointing evening for Manchester United in front of their fans at Old Trafford. A misfired volley from James Maddison was the best chance in a cagey first half as Kelechi Iheanacho fired Leicester City into the lead in the second half against The Red Devils.

Fred, in his 100th Premier League appearance, equalised just three minutes later but it proved to be the only consolation for the home side, who failed to take the lead. In fact, the Foxes seemed to get ahead once again when Maddison fired his shot into the bottom corner, but a VAR check showed that a foul had been committed in the build-up, and thus, the goal was ruled out.
