Mbappe to sign Real Madrid contract next week, Man City closing in on Haaland

A long, protracted transfer saga is nearing its end; a report from Marca claims that Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe will sign his Real Madrid deal next week, officially completing his transfer to the Spanish giants for free.

Los Blancos have had continuous links with the Frenchman over the last five years and made an official approach to sign him last summer. The Ligue 1 runners-up didn’t budge on that occasion, despite the risk of losing the youngster for nothing the following summer – which seems to be the inevitable end to the whole saga.

The report claims that talks between Mbappe’s representatives and those of Real intensified in recent weeks; the Frenchman became eligible for a pre-contract after the turn of the year, and he will sign the same by March 18. However, neither club will announce the deal until the end of the season.

Mbappe is not the only superstar forward expected to move this summer. After reports emerged earlier this week that Manchester City and Real were leading the chase for Erling Haaland, it has recently become clear that it is the former who is in pole position to sign the Norwegian.

The Daily Mail reports that City have a deal in place for Haaland, with personal terms already discussed. The Citizens will trigger his release clause, believed to be 63 million pounds, but his agent Mino Raiola’s fee, and other bonuses, will take the total cost of the deal over 100 million.

The Borussia Dortmund man will follow in the footsteps of his father Alfie, who represented City for three years. He will, barring any late collapse, join the club with a record of more than a goal-per-game for BVB. Any deal for Haaland is expected to end City’s interest in Harry Kane, whom the club chased last summer.
