The cricketing world has been absolutely numb since Friday (March 4) evening due to the shocking and untimely passing of the legendary Australian wristspinner Shane Warne. Prominent names have paid their homage and befitting tributes to one of the finest cricketers to have graced the game of cricket.

Warne, only 52, took his last breath after a suspected heart attack during a holiday with friends in Thailand. Reports are that Warne was found unconscious in a private villa after one of his friends went up to enquire why he hadn’t turned up on time for the dinner.

Thailand police, who have deemed the case unsuspicious for now, said repeated CPRs were conducted in an effort to revive Warne but they all failed and the legendary cricketer took his last breath.

Warne touched many lives through his mesmerising legspin bowling and charismatic personality on the field over a 15-year-career. He bagged over 1000 international wickets and was a World Cup winner in 1999 apart from being an integral member of Australia’s all-conquering Test team back in late 90s and early 2000s.

While he tormented them on the field, even Warne’s opposition couldn’t help but shed a tear following his passing as some of them were his dear friends off the field. The Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara, two of the finest ever batters and ones with whom Warne had a riveting duel, were the first ones to express their pain and grief over his passing.

    Shocked, stunned & miserable…

Will miss you Warnie. There was never a dull moment with you around, on or off the field. Will always treasure our on field duels & off field banter. You always had a special place for India & Indians had a special place for you.

Lara was equally shocked and “speechless”.

💔 And speechless at the moment. I literally don’t know how to sum up this situation. My friend is gone!!
We have lost one of the Greatest Sportsmen of all time!!
My condolences goes out to his family.
RIP Warnie!! You will be missed. pic.twitter.com/sQOrL9dIyM
