Kiran More, talent scout and wicket-keeping consultant of the Mumbai Indians, has tested positive for COVID-19. The franchise released an official statement that said that More is asymptomatic and has been put in isolation.

It hasn’t been the best start to the 2021 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The tournament hasn’t even begun, and there is a slew of COVID-19 cases going around. A handful of players, the ground staff at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and a few support staff members of different teams, have tested positive. A few members of the broadcasting team have also reported having tested positive.

After players like Axar Patel (Delhi Capitals) and Devdutt Padikkal (Royal Challengers Bangalore) tested positive for coronavirus, in the latest that has come out, Mumbai Indians (MI) talent scout and wicket-keeping consultant Kiran More has fallen prey to the deadly virus.

The defending champions released an official statement revealing the bad news to their fans which stated that More tested positive. He is the first such case in the MI camp. The official statement also said that the former Indian wicket-keeper batsman was asymptomatic and has been put in isolation. The MI medical team is going to constantly monitor the health of More and will abide by all the BCCI protocols as well.

“Mr. More is currently asymptomatic and has been isolated. Mumbai Indians and Kiran More have followed all the BCCI health guidelines. The MI medical team will continue to monitor Mr. More’s health and abide by the BCCI protocols. We would like to remind our fans to be safe and follow COVID-19 appropriate behaviours in these difficult times,” Mumbai Indians stated in their official statement release.

Five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians kickstart their title defence against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the tournament opener on the 9th of April at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. MI play their first five games in Chennai before moving to Delhi for four games and end the season with three games in Bengaluru and two in Kolkata.
