After a nine-day wait, Patna Pirates returned to the Pro Kabaddi League sesons 8 with a resounding 52-24 victory against the Tamil Thailavas.
The Pirates did not play even a single game in the last nine days because of the coronavirus scare in their camp, but the break seems to have rejuvenated their players as the Pirates looked like a team on a mission.
The first 10 minutes of the game saw both sides taking it slow in the game as the score read 8-8, but then the Pirates inflicted the first all out of the night on the Thailavas and took the lead. The Thailavas just couldn’t find their way in the game after getting this all out. At half-time, the Pirates lead by 21-12.
In the second half, the Pirates came with even more intensity as they inflicted three more all out on the Thailavas in the next 20 minutes of the game. Patna displayed an all-round game as both of their raiders and defence scored an almost equal number of points.
In the raiding department for the Pirates, Prashant Kumar Rai led from the front as he scored eight raid points, followed by Monu Goyat and Sachin, both of whom scored six raid points each.
Patna’s defence got the record number of tackle points as they scored 21 tackle points in total. Three of Patna’s defenders scored a High 5, Neeraj, Sunil, and Mohammadreza Chiyaneh scored six, five and six tackle points, respectively.
For the Thailavas, the only shining light was Sagar, who scored eight tackle points. But he didn’t get any support from any other players from his team. The others could only manage 16 points in total.
Manjeet and Ajinkya Pawar could only manage four and five raid points, respectively, which was way below par than expected from the raiders starting the game.

Thailavas captain Surjeet could only manage to get a solitary point in defence as he struggled to be on the mat for longer durations.
With this win, the Pirates are now comfortably placed second in the points table with 46 points from 12 games, while the Thailavas are still at the 10th position with 34 points.
