Spurs’ winter pursuit of Wolverhampton winger Adama Traore is set to bore fruit, as the two clubs are closing in on a fee to trigger his transfer, reports Sky Sports.
Tottenham Hotspur have been in pursuit of the Spaniard in recent weeks and have already had a bid turned down by Wolves, who, as it was reported, were holding out for more than the 15 million pounds fee Spurs were offering. In turn, the North London outfit has seemingly upped their bid, and the two clubs aren’t far apart in terms of his valuation, believed to be in the region of 20 million.
Traore has 18 months left on his current deal at the Molineux – with the player reportedly not keen on signing new terms. As such, Wolves’ window of profiting on their asset is shortening, while options in the squad mean that the Midlands club won’t need to bring a replacement in immediately.
While the 25-year-old is a winger, Spurs manager Antonio Conte is keen to turn Traore into an attacking right wing-back, similar to what the Italian did with Victor Moses to great effect at his former club Chelsea.
Meanwhile, as per L’Equipe, Spurs’ Bryan Gil is wanted by Ligue 1 side OGC Nice on loan. In July 2021, The Spaniard became one of director Fabio Paratici’s first new signings at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium when he arrived from Sevilla in a 21.6 million pounds deal that also involved Erik Lamela going the other way.
However, the youngster has found opportunities hard to come by and has only been used sparingly by both Conte and his predecessor Nuno Espirito Santo.
The 19-year-old has a goal and an assist to his name so far this season but could find his starts limited even further after the expected arrival of Traore. A six-month dry loan, as is reported, could help temporarily fix that problem.
