Former Chelsea midfielder and Brazil international moved to Chinese Super League club Shanghai Port on a bumper contract in 2017. Six years later, the midfielder – now 30 – is willing to return to Europe and sign for FC Barcelona, who, according to his own words, hold an interest in the player.

The Brazilian midfielder revealed that the Spanish giants have been in contact with his agent over a potential short-term loan deal until the end of the season but doubts if they will be able to bring him in due to their ongoing difficulties in registering new signings.

“They would want for me to join until the end of the season. They’re still talking, it’s ongoing, but there’s this problem with the new signings. I guess Dani Alves has faced some.

“It’s nice to see a great club interested in you. We didn’t have any talks so far, there’s no point doing that if Barcelona can’t register new players right now. Barca is trying to sort their end out, then maybe I’ll talk to my agent so we can arrange something.

“It’d be an incredible opportunity for me, for Barcelona too. I’m in great form here, it would be great for my career.”

the player told TNT about Barcelona’s reported interest.

Oscar left Chelsea in January 2017 in a deal reported to be worth 67 million pounds. The move also brought the midfielder level with some of the highest-paid football players around the globe as it was claimed that he received a weekly wage in the region of 400,000 pounds at Shanghai.

Since signing for the club, Oscar has made 148 appearances, scored 44 goals, and won one league title and a domestic cup.

Barcelona signed free agent Alves earlier in the window before adding former Manchester City striker Ferran Torres to their ranks.

Philippe Coutinho’s loan departure to Aston Villa, the termination of Yusuf Demir’s loan from Rapid Wien, Sergio Aguero’s sudden retirement, and Samuel Umtiti’s decision to defer payment have all helped the club register their winter signings with the league.
