Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was left fuming after the Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur in North London, which finished in a frantic 2-2 draw. For the visiting side, the goals came from Diogo Jota and Andy Robertson, whilst the hosts got their share from their beloved duo of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son.

However, there were many talking points during the game, especially a couple which impacted The Reds. Diogo Jota was brought down in the box by a brash challenge by Emerson Royal, but referee Paul Tierney denied pointing to the spot as he deemed it as play-acting. The English referee had cautioned Klopp with a card for his dissent shortly after that.

Before the first half finished, Andy Robertson was fouled by Harry Kane, where the striker went for the ball and got a touch on it but had his heels pointing to Robertson’s leg. The challenge was not deemed worthy of giving a red, but in the second half, Robertson was sent off for a similar challenge on Emerson Royal after VAR consultation.

Klopp went all out against the referee and noted that it was fair to award Robertson the red as it wasn’t his best challenge, but Kane’s reckless challenge going unpunished came to his surprise. He added that Tierney must be asked about these questions rather than him.

“There were a lot of other things obviously that were pretty influential in this game but some of these questions it is probably better to ask Mr Tierney what he thinks,”

    Klopp told Sky Sports.

“We have a VAR sitting there and he thinks have a look again at the Robertson situation. Fine, that’s what he is there for. And the penalty situation with Diogo Jota. Mr Tierney told me Diogo stops on purpose because he wants the foul. First and foremost, if you want to shoot you have to stop because you cannot run and shoot. It’ll be helpful if you play football in the past,”

    he added.

Having dropped points yet again in a short space of time, Liverpool currently are three points behind league-leaders Manchester City, who are keen on registering their sixth Premier League title.
