Real Madrid’s game vs Cadiz will take place despite 6 COVID cases; out-of-favor Hazard tipped to start

Los Blancos have recorded six cases of the dreaded virus amongst their staff and players, including Gareth Bale, Rodrygo and Marco Asensio, who will not be available for selection for the period of their recovery.

An interesting outcome of the non-postponement of the game could be the return of ex-Chelsea man Eden Hazard, who has had a torrid time since moving to Real Madrid in a 140 million pounds deal in 2019. Due to his bad form, the Belgian has been restricted to the bench under previous managers and even current head coach Carlo Ancelotti.

The game against Cadiz could give the Belgian a chance to redeem himself and possibly make a re-entry into the Madrid side, with three wingers contracting COVID-19 in the past few days. It is expected that the attacker will start the subsequent game against Atheltic Club as well.

The football world looks to be heading into a state of panic as a load of Covid cases at various clubs in England has resulted in the postponement of a number of Premier League matches, with rumours also surfacing that the league may have to head into an indefinite break.

Real Madrid’s six cases have not met the threshold for postponement in the La Liga. However, strict measures are being put in place to mitigate the spread of the virus. Pre and post-match pleasantries have been scrapped to ensure minimum unnecessary contact between the players, the RFEF have announced in their latest guidelines.

The ongoing round of the Copa del Rey had some one-sided games as well as some shocking losses. Real Betis, Mallorca, Osasuna, Valencia, and Cadiz all walked away with wins and advanced to the next round of the competition while Getafe and Granada were shown the door by Atletico Baleares and Atletico Gancha, respectively. Shockingly. Getafe were beaten 5-0 by the minnows in what was a complete rout.
