On Saturday night, 30 fans were hurt when a section of the spectator gallery fell during the Jam Amdar Chashak (MLA Cup) tournament in Warora, reports Times of India. The injured were brought to the hospital, and several of them are still receiving treatment.

The two-day big event was organized by MLA Pratibha Dhanorkar and hosted on the grounds of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee. In the first round, 25 groups from Maharashtra and other states competed.

The event drew a large crowd, and the whole auditorium, including the spectator gallery, was crowded. At around 9.30 p.m., the packed temporary stand was unable to support the load and fell completely, dragging down spectators. Many children and teenagers were injured.

They were all immediately brought to the Warora sub-district hospital. Later, some badly injured spectators were sent to Chandrapur for further treatment.

Balu Dhanorkar, MP, and Pratibha Dhanorkar, MLA, paid a visit to the injured at the sub-district hospital to ensure that they received proper treatment.

A similar incident happened took place in March. Where a temporary spectator gallery collapsed during the 47th Junior National-level kabaddi event in Suryapet on Monday, in that incident, 80 viewers got injured.

    G. Jagadish Reddy, the minister of energy, gave the tournament’s opening remarks at the police grounds. The tournament was organized by the Telangana Kabaddi Association in collaboration with the Suryapet District Kabaddi Association, and 29 states took part.

Local TV news channels aired the footage of the incident, which was also posted on Twitter. The collapse is claimed to have occurred due to the instability of a structure constructed of wood and other materials.

Everyone who was trapped beneath the gallery was rescued, and the injured were sent to Suryapet government hospital and a few private hospitals for treatment. Four people were critically injured.

Kabaddi is quickly becoming a popular sport in India, mostly owing to the Pro Kabaddi League. Now is the time to build Kabaddi stadiums, and matches must be hosted in those venues. Accidents occur regularly as a result of a lack of suitable and sufficient stadiums.

Almost 120 people got injured in an accident that happened during a Kabaddi match in 2021. These incidents need to be taken care of as soon as possible. Otherwise, the accidents will keep happening and the popularity of Kabaddi will crumble.
