Arturo Vidal’s house in Italy was mobbed by a few thieves, who entered and stole plenty of valuable possessions of the Inter Milan midfielder. The incident reportedly took place on November 7, where the Nerrazzuri and AC Milan played out a 1-1 draw in the Serie A clash.

Vidal lives in Villaggio del Sole on the residential hill of San Fermo, in the Como area, which is situated around 25 km away from the San Siro in the southern part of Milan. La Provincia de Como reported that the robbery took place on the day of the game. The trespassers managed to steal plenty of luxurious possessions, which includes gold and jewels.

To add to it, they found the keys of the Mercedes Vidal owns and left the place in that car. It is said to be worth around 400,000 euros. The former Bayern Munich midfielder apparently kept his car in the courtyard, and the incident has left his family distressed.

This isn’t the first time a footballer has been at the receiving end of such a robbery. Chris Smalling, the former Manchester United centre-back who moved to AS Roma in 2019, had found a house in Southern Rome.

In April, the defender was held captive by armed robbers for a while before they left with pretty expensive watches and jewellery.

The incident was a bit more severe in the case of the 2006 World Cup winner Luca Toni last year, who was held at gunpoint by robbers at his residence in the Province of Modena.

Three criminals circumvented the security system at his place and held him captive for over a couple of hours at gunpoint, and eventually, no one in the house was left hurt.

Despite the Italian league producing outstanding football over the last couple of seasons, these incidents have been a major dent to many players’ safety. However, the Italian authorities have promised enough security to these players and have been assured of rectifying such incidents as much as possible in the future.
