Leicester City’s home fixture against Legia Warsaw saw five fans charged for causing disorder at the King Power Stadium. The incident took place during the first half, where the fans clashed with the police while attempting to breach the segregated lines at the away stand.

There were a number of flares let off in the crowd, which caused a little disruption among the fans. This little chaos saw 14 officers on match day duty in the crowd assaulted and injured with two of them requiring hospital treatment (one for concussion and while others sustained a wrist fracture).

Flares in the Legia Warsaw corner after 70 minutes at the King Power stadium tonight – a smoke screen for a concerted scramble across the seats by the away fans towards the police and Leicester fans. Five men were charged with public order offences, and a couple of them were also charged for carrying class B drugs. The rest were charged for an assault on the police personnel and emergency workers. All these five are due to appear at Loughborough Magistrates’ Court on December 10.

“A 30-year-old man arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and 24-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and possession of a controlled class B drug have been released on police bail pending further enquiries,”

    the statement added.

After the game finished, the Legia fans were also held back inside the stadium for a period of time. No further disorders were reported after the incident in focus.

The Foxes had a field day in this Europa League clash. Patson Daka opened the scoring for the side. James Maddison doubled it for City before Filip Mladenovic got one back.

However, before the first half finished, Wilfred Ndidi scored fantastically for the hosts and pretty much settled the deal. The visiting unit had some chances in the second half but struggled to finish them.

Brendan Rodgers’ men have been on a turbulent run in recent times, and did not register a win in over a month across competitions. They lost at home to Arsenal (2-0) and Chelsea (3-0) in November, and their last victory in 90 minutes at the King Power was against Manchester United (4-2) in October.
