Mohammad Amir, who has had several battles with India & Royal Challengers Bangalore man in the past, believes the Indian batter is the best of this generation.

The former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has said that Virat Kohli is the best batsman of the current era. Amir, who’s currently playing in the Abu Dhabi T10 League, added that he never had any trouble bowling against the 33-year-old, but he’s the best of the lot in this generation.

Regarded as one of the greatest batters of all time, Virat has seen a dip in form in the last couple of years. The Indian batter hasn’t been able to score an international century in these two years. Even then, he averages over 50 in all three formats. For all the class and career Kohli has, the former Pakistan player named him as the best of the generation.

Speaking in a show on Zee News English, Amir was asked to opine on the three best batters in the world. The left-arm pacer stated that although he didn’t have any struggles against Kohli, he remains the best batsman in this generation.

“I feel, in my opinion, Virat Kohli is the best batsman of this era, although I don’t find it tough bowling against him, I feel he’s the best batsman of this era,”

    he said.

Amir and Kohli have had several confrontations in international cricket. The speedster has had an upper hand, dismissing Kohli twice in four ODI matches and conceding at less than run-a-ball in two T20Is. The most notable battle between the two came in the 2017 Champions Trophy final, where Amir ran through India’s top order en route to a famous victory.

Amir further added that Australia’s hard-hitting all-rounder Shane Watson was a very difficult batter to bowl at and currently that distinction goes to Steve Smith.

“When I played in 2009 Shane Watson was a very difficult batsman to bowl to in white-ball cricket, but now I feel Steven Smith because I don’t understand how Steve Smith bats, I bowl him outside off he’ll flick it to the leg-side, if I bowl him on the legs, he’ll make room and drive that bowl to covers,”

    Amir added.
