The amount of drama that Serie A has been producing lately has been a treat to behold for the viewing world. Once again, a set of mesmerizing games helped them improve their status as one of the most entertaining football leagues in the world. Juventus and Atalanta registered big wins, whilst AC Milan lost a league game for the first time this season.

Atalanta had a goal fest in their fixture against Spezia at the Gewiss Stadium. M’Bala Nzola opened the scoring in the game, and gave a surprise lead for Spezia, but Mario Pasalic scored from close range via a Davide Zappacosta cross to make it 1-1. Duvan Zapata and Pasalic were in action in the final few minutes of the first half, scoring twice to make it 3-1 for the hosts.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s men had some brilliant chances early on in the second half, but struggled to convert. Luis Murial and Ruslan Malinovskyi scored in the final 10 minutes to make it 5-1, before Nzola scored another consolation goal. The game finished 5-2, as Atalanta scampered three crucial points in style.

25 – Atalanta have picked up 25 points in their first 13 Serie A matches only for the second time in their history, after the 2016/17 campaign. Footsteps.#SerieA #AtalantaSpezia https://t.co/rjxKRz3VnB

The much-anticipated game of the day was between Juventus and Lazio, which turned out as frantic as one could have expected. Despite the two winning goals for the Bianconeri coming in penalties, there was great drama and end-to-end football until the very end.

Alvaro Morata was fouled in the first half inside the box, with a late challenge giving Juventus a penalty. Leonardo Bonucci thumped home the penalty, and they finished the first half with that lead. Pepe Reina came out of his position to make a clearance and lost the ball. He made a recovery tackle on Federico Chiesa, which won Juve another penalty, finished again by Leonardo Bonucci.

🗣: “Di Bello was three metres away and saw it perfectly, then Var did something crazy, because you can't judge it based on an image. It's a penalty that are only given in Italy. Apart from the penalty episode, I didn't like the way the game was conducted."

The big shocker of the day was AC Milan finding a defeat for the first time in the league. It happened at the home of Fiorentina, who put on a highly spirited performance to defeat Stefano Pioli’s unit in a high-scoring thriller.

Alfren Duncan and Riccardo Saponara scored for the hosts in the first half, with Saponara’s stunning goal coming in the first half injury time. Dusan Vlahovic made it three around the hour mark for Fiorentina, and it seemed like they will run away with the fixture. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, however, had different ideas, and scored twice in five minutes to make things interesting.

Fiorentina had some tough defending to do, but Vlahovic chipped in with another goal late in the game to make it four for the hosts, which pretty much sealed the deal for them. A 96th minute Lorenzo Venuti own goal made it three for Milan, but it was nothing but a mere consolation. Napoli are the only undefeated team right now in Italy.
