As has been a recurring theme over the past few years, super-agent Mino Raiola has again hinted that the future of his client Paul Pogba might lie away from Manchester United. Pogba’s contract at the club expires in summer 2022.

The Italian spoke of Pogba’s contractual situation in an interview with RAI, but without divulging too much into the subject matter, cryptically hinted that the 28-year-old might be looking for another challenge.

“December is the month of dreams… and I can’t stop dreams, but it is better to not speak about Paul. If some former Man Utd players don’t speak about me and Paul, they won’t work anymore,”

It’s too early to speak about Paul Pogba’s contract. Let’s see what happens. I can’t stop anyone from dreaming.”

    Raiola told RAI.

The midfielder has been linked with a return to Juventus, the club he joined for free when he left United in 2012, while Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have also been credited with an interest in the central midfielder.

The France international’s career at Manchester United remains an enigma. After signing for the Red Devils in a world-record fee of 105 million euros in 2016, he produced inconsistent displays during the early months, earning criticism from fans and media.

Better days were to follow, better seasons too, as the Frenchman drastically improved his production under Jose Mourinho, culminating in him scoring a match-winning goal in the Europa League final against Ajax. His numbers went up too, especially in 2018/19, when he scored 16 goals and provided 11 assists across all competitions despite Mourinho’s departure midway through the campaign. He was named in the PFA Team of the Year the same year.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s arrival coincided with another sharp upturn in form, but again, Pogba was unable to maintain it over a prolonged period. He started the current season by providing seven assists in the first three games, but his form has tailed off since. Presently, he is spending some time on the sidelines after picking up an injury while on international duty and isn’t expected to feature for the Red Devils anytime soon.
